India is producing about 1 billion kilograms of tea each year so it is the top producer country in the world. However, they drink a lot of it as well and about 76 percent of the Indian Tea is consumed in India. That's why India is the fourth largest in exports, behind Kenya, China, and Sri Lanka.

India Tea

Almost every part of India has a growing region and it is home to over 14,000 estates. India Tea is cultivated in 15 Indian states. The unique climate of each of these states produces a unique tea.

The diverse climates in each region set each India Tea apart. There are three distinct types of Black India Tea which the country is most famous for. Darjeeling Tea, Assam Tea, Nilgiri Tea.

Darjeeling Tea

Darjeeling Tea is grown in the foothills of Himalaya at an altitude of between 600 m to 2000 m above sea level. It is the highest qualified and the most expensive tea in the world due to its special weather conditions. Two leaves and a bud are delicately handpicked in the gardens and treated with precision to achieve the brand Darjeeling quality.

The ideal use of Darjeeling Tea is after 20 minutes of brewing. Excellent flavor and being late brewing are its features. It is in the medium color and the closest to the Iran Tea.

Taste Darjeeling Tea and you will find out why it is so famous. Enjoy the mild, delicately flowery spring plucking, the highly fragrant second flush, or the 'Autumnal Darjeeling ' which grown in autumn with a slightly larger leaf and are of outstanding quality.

Assam Tea

Assam Tea is grown in the rich region of northeastern India near the Brahma Putra River. Tea plantation lies on both banks of the river at an altitude of between 300 m to 800 m above sea level and forms the world's largest growing area. The humid and tropical climate of this area lends Assam Tea strong, full bodied liquor. The first flush harvested from the end of April to the beginning of May has a rich and fresh aroma, the second flush harvested from the middle of May to the end of June produces the famous Tippy Orthodox Tea.

Assam Tea appeals to connoisseurs who prefer full bodied, malty and tangy tea enjoyed with sugar crystals and cream. It has a global reputation due to its high quality, special color and aroma. It is rich in color with body and fullness and is in great demand as the ideal energizing drink.

Nilgiri Tea

Nilgiri Tea comes from a higher part of India than Darjeeling. This southern Indian region is located in the Blue Mountains or Nilgiris at elevations between 1,000 and 2,500 meters. The first teas were planted by Europeans in the area in the 1850s.  The flavor of Nilgiri Tea is subtle and gently elegant. It has a golden yellow color and is very fragrant. Its flavor is distinct in the world and has floral tones with a creamy mouth feel. Nilgiri Tea is frequently blended with more robust teas as well. Nilgiri is also known for Green Teas.
